Carla Evalynne Chandler
Carla Evalynne Chandler of Dacula, Georgia passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Carla is survived by Christina Howell (daughter); Gray Gurkin (son) and his wife, Christy Gurkin; and Carey Estes (daughter). In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Nicholas Perry, Katherine Perry, Ellieblue Gurkin, Zane Gurkin, Andrew Estes, Charlie Estes, and Jacob Estes.
Carla was the daughter of R. Carl Chandler (Atlanta, GA-deceased) and Sarah M. Chandler (Atlanta, GA-deceased). She had three brothers: Robert Chandler (Millburn, NJ-deceased) and his wife Barbara; David Chandler (Freeport, FL); and Craig Chandler and his wife Beverly (Dacula, GA) in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Carla was born in Atlanta, GA and grew up in Short Hills, NJ where she attended Millburn High School. After her high school graduation, she attended and graduated from Sullins College (Bristol, VA). Post college, Carla resided in Richmond, VA and started a family. In her later years she lived in Falls Church, VA; Baltimore, MD; Charlottesville, VA; and Dacula, GA.
Carla loved her children, and she was always surrounded by photos of her family and cats. She was active in the Episcopal church and had a strong faith. Carla had a creative flair and was a talented artist. She enjoyed reading, playing tennis, ballet, Christmas lights, the beach, Waffle House, CVS, soap operas and daytime talk shows. Her infectious laugh would always make you smile.
Carla was one of a kind. We will love and miss her but rejoice in knowing we will see her again.
The burial and services will be private.
