Resided in: Atlanta, GA

Carl Coster Dobson,72, of Atlanta, GA passed away peacefully in his sleep at Emory Hospice on August 16, 2017. Carl was born in Atlanta on August 9, 1945 and lived in the same family house in Druid Hills his entire life. He graduated from Druid Hills High School and could always be found at Forrest Hills or Clairmont Hills Baptist churches. Carl received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Georgia Tech and had a knack for fixing anything mechanical. He restored antique organs and was a reclaimer of all things thrown away, but his passion was for drawing many of society’s castaways into the folds of Christ’s love.
Carl never married but he has a very large family of men and women scattered all over the world whose lives he has touched and helped to mold into pastors, teachers, and missionaries. Carl lived as a father figure to many, serving lasagna meals at Georgia Tech for decades and running the largest HS baseball league in Atlanta out of his backyard. He had a gift for sharing the Good News of God’s love with as many souls as possible.
Carl is survived by his brother, James L.(Dobby) Dobson and his wife, Carolyn Dobson, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James L. Dobson and Dorothy Coster Dobson; and his brother, Coleman Dobson, and sister, Anne Dobson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to www.lesfeldick.com to help keep Carl’s favorite television program on the air and continue his ministry legacy. A Memorial Service will be announced at a future date. The family wishes to thank Emory University Hospital ICU and the Hospice Unit for their loving care.
