Beulah B. Baker
Beulah Pauline Butz Baker, 98, passed away Wednesday July 1, 2015 at her home in Lawrenceville. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, July 6 at Harmony Grove United Methodist Church in Lilburn. The family will receive friends in Pollard Hall following the ceremony. Mrs. Baker will be cremated and laid to rest next to her husband, Robert Wallace Baker, Jr. in Franklin, Indiana.
Beulah, born on December 16, 1916 to the late Alfred Peter “AP” Butz and Emma Mabel Hiner Butz in Boyleston, Indiana and was raised in Franklin, Indiana. She was the first woman in her family to attend college, graduating with honors from Franklin College where she was active in Delta Delta Delta Sorority activities that continued until her early 90s.
Beulah lived in Virginia, North Carolina, Atlanta, and Norcross before becoming a resident of Lawrenceville. She has lived with her caregiver daughter Beth and near to her son Lewis since the death of her husband in 1991.
She was the oldest member of Harmony Grove United Methodist Church where she served as organist, church secretary, and was active in the Sunday school Friendship Class. Beulah always filled an empty chair for a Bridge game until her hearing loss made that too difficult. She drove a Meals On Wheels route well into her 80s. Beulah taught her family to love cooking, eating, and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Wallace Baker, Jr. and daughter Teresa Gay Baker Mosteller; sisters Marian Clara Butz Beaver, Caroline Lucille Butz Manship, Dorothy Edna Butz Rose, Golda Irene Butz; and brother Paul Elwood Butz.
She is survived by her children, daughter Jacqueline Margaret Baker Keen and husband James Edward Keen of Chocowinity, North Carolina, grandson Robert David Keen and wife Penny McLamb Keen of Benson, NC, granddaughter Jennifer Dianne Keen Kim and husband Carl Kim of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and great-granddaughters Sierra Zahn Kim and Sonora Zahn Kim; daughter Beth Anne Baker of the home, granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Abram Jakobi and grandson Frederick Patton Abram, both of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; son-in-law Marvin Robert Mosteller of Calhoun, GA, grandson Robert Lemar Mosteller and wife Amy Adcock Mosteller of Talking Rock, GA, great-grandson Gavin Mosteller, and great-granddaughter Avery Mosteller, granddaughter Karen Teresa Mosteller Wiles and husband Gary Wiles of Richardson, TX, great-grandson, Trace Wiles; son Lewis Robert Baker and wife Betsy Ross Latham Baker of Lawrenceville, grandson Nathanial Lewis Baker of Lawrenceville, granddaughter Rachel Whitney Baker Bright and husband Joshua Bright of Jefferson, Georgia, step great-grandson Noah Bright, granddaughter Tegan Ruth Baker of Lawrenceville.
The family requests that memorials be made to Harmony Grove United Methodist Church and Crossroads Hospice of Tucker.

Beulah was a prayer warrior. One of the best Christian wemon I have ever met. I loved her dearly. I’m glad she is in a better place with no more pain.
She was an inspirational and very interesting person to know and be around. May she rest in perfect peace.
