Richard D. Dick Barth, Sr.
Dick Barth, of Gainesville, passed away on July 29, 2011, at his residence. He was born on March 30, 1926, in Elmira, New York, and was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Annabel Barth, sister, Lorraine Mason and brother, Robert Barth. He is survived by his
loving wife of 64 years, Norma Barth; daughter Barbara Grant; son and daughter-in law, Richard D. Barth, Jr. and Marcia Barth; grandchildren Ryan Sweeney, Jessica
Sullens and Katie Barth, great grandchildren Braden Benham, Erin Sullens, and Tyler Sullens, and niece Joyce Wiedrich. Dick served in the Army Air Corps during World
War II and graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology RIT in engineering. He was a proud Mason, Shriner and life long Republican. After having made career moves with his family to California and Connecticut, the family located to Georgia in 1972. He retired as General Manager, Southern Region, of Bridgeport Machines/Textron, Inc, and pursued his life
long passion for golf for many years until sidelined by health issues He loved his family above all else and will be remembered by his family and friends across the country for his kindness, goodness, generosity, integrity, loyalty, thoughtfulness, and keen sense of humor. His
was indeed a life well lived. A private family memorial service will be held.
The family wishes to thank Hospice and all of “Dickies Dolls” for their loving care and requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center at 2150 Limestone Parkway, Suite 222, Gainesville, GA 30501.
