Olen Adams III

March 18, 1963 ~ January 19, 2022

Born in: Chicago, IL
Resided in: Atlanta, GA

Olen passed away peacefully on January 19, 2022. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Sharon (nee) Glenn and Olen Adams, Jr. on March 18, 1963. He was preceded in death by his father, Olen Jr., stepfather Robert Shaw and his brother John Shaw. He was confirmed at Resurrection Lutheran Church and kept his faith until his demise.

Olen had an independent spirit that led him to Atlanta many years ago and decided to make it his home. It was here that he found and formed his circle of friends and supporters. He was very artistic which led him to pursue his talents in a vast display of caricatures and Superheroes on T-shirts and short picture books that he shared at many of the public markets and fairs.

He developed and organized several support groups while dealing with his own issues and is credited with their growth at a time when support was limited in the area. Through the years he battled several health issues and challenges. He always relied on his faith to move forward.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Sharon Glenn, niece Kayla Shaw; great-nieces, Marilyn and Maddie; great-nephew, Grant, best friends Maurice & Aloyes and a host of relatives, cousins and friends.

“Cycles of life and death can be likened to the alternating periods of sleep and wakefulness. Just as sleep prepares us for the next day’s activity, death can be seen as a state in which we rest and replenish ourselves for new life. In this light, death should be acknowledged, along with life, as a blessing to be appreciated.” – Daisaku Ikeda
