Natalie Gail Rogers

natalie rogers

November 26, 1955 ~ January 2, 2022

Born in: Chicago, IL
Resided in: Covington, GA

Natalie was the second of nine children born to Nathaniel Rogers Sr. and Mary Alice Rogers on November 26, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois.

Natalie was educated through the public school system in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Lindbloom High School in 1974. She loved to read and was studious.

Natalie met Michael Thomas in 1969. They became best friends and married on November 12, 1974. They bore two children Natalia Deborah Jackson and Nathan Everett Rogers. Although they later divorced, they remained good friends and spoke often up until her death.

To many Natalie was a beautiful person on the outside, but she was kind and gentle on the inside as well. She always tried her best to support everyone. Growing up, among her close friends, she was affectionately called “the nice one.” Being a naturally shy person, she always wanted to make others feel comfortable. One way she did this was through her warm smile. She was a loyal friend. One of her special friendships dates all the way back to the fourth grade. Her relationship with family and friends was very precious to her. Although she lived in several places, she always carried the friends she made with her in her heart. She kept in contact with them, and they never doubted that she would support them in any way she could.

One of her most precious relationships was the one she had with her son Nathan. She loved him dearly and would always try her best to never miss a phone call from him. Natalie was best known for being loving, dependable, and generous. Whether it was with her time, resources, or a listening ear. Her brother Nathaniel said one of the things he will miss the most are their phone conversations. Knowing that he won’t be able to pick up the phone and call his sister and talk like they used to.

Natalie loved to sing, dance and act in skits and drama plays. She sang in singing groups “Sisters of Sound” and “Lady G with Real Harmony.” This gave her the opportunity to spend more time with her friends doing the hobbies she loved the most.

Natalie was a spiritual person in search of the truth. One of her close childhood friends Denise Gordon introduced her to Denise Kirk Harris who studied the Bible with her. Denise became a loyal sister/ friend up until her death. Even before she was baptized Natalie didn’t waste any time assisting others to learn the truth from the Bible. She started with her other childhood best friend Gwendolyn Goodwin, who was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses beside her on May 25, 1980.

One of her greatest joys was talking to others about the promises found in God’s word the Bible. This motivated her to expand her ministry to other areas. She lived in Illinois, Alabama, Texas, Mexico and Georgia. During that time, she was so happy, because others were willing to learn about the precious truths from the Bible.

In her later years Natalie battled with health issues, but her love and devotion for Jehovah God never waned. Her love for people moved her to talk to anyone who would listen – doctors, nurses, family – about the wonderful promises for the future outlined in God’s word the Bible. She remained a loyal servant of Jehovah until her death on January 2, 2022.

Her favorite scripture was Acts 24:15 “There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Her family and friends long for the day when God will call for her and she will answer his call by awaking from her sleep to reunite with them in the earthly paradise.

Natalie was preceded in death by her father Nathaniel Rogers Sr. and her brother Maurice Daden.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her mother Mary Alice Daden, daughter Natalia Deborah (Corey) Jackson, son Nathan Everett Rogers, granddaughter Princess Natalia Rogers, siblings: Veronica Taylor, Nathaniel Rogers Jr, Authur Young (Nina), Timothy Rogers, Angela Daden, Jessica Floyd (Lionel) and James Lee Rogers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and spiritual family.

  5. Arlinel and Karl Weddington says:

    Natalia, Corey and Nathan,

We are beyond words in expressing our deepest sympathy for your loss. Though we know imperfection exist—we never expect to face a loss such as this. You will have days when it seems like your tears will not stop flowing, and when it happens, pour out your heart to Jehovah regarding your pain and have unwavering confidence that he will act in your behalf (Philippians 4:6).

Jehovah and Jesus are the ONLY ones with the power to bring Natalie back—and they will! That hope is real and, trust us, holding on to that hope will get you through your darkest hours. (Acts 24:15). In your mind’s eye—envision seeing your mom walking around the corner—but this time in a healthy and vibrant self. Keep that mental picture!

We wish we could be there for you in person but pray that you find comfort in the ‘virtual arms’ of those surrounding you. We send our love.

  9. Joe & Doris Boone says:

It is truly with the heavest of hearts that we will miss Natalie. She proved to be a genuine friend and example of agape, brotherly affection, and deep concern. No doubt Jehovah will miss her prayers and the way she gave him many positive answers to the Devil’s taunts as she withstood one challenge, trial, or dissappointment with full reliance and confidence that Jehovah would make things as good as they.could be – and she was satisfied with that – just like Job.
Talking with her toward the end of her life was just like talking to her when she was newely baptized – the light of her faith didn’t diminish – a wonderful legacy to be remembered by.
