Maxine Moore Cooper Horne, 102 years of age, a resident of Presbyterian Village in Austell, GA for the past four years, previously of Buckhead, died on April 1, 2015. Born in Rome, GA February 17, 1913, Mrs. Horne's family moved to Atlanta when she was just four months old. In addition to her parents, John Wesley Cooper and Emma Moore Cooper, she is preceded in death by her sister, Marion Hollingsworth and brother-in-law Victor Hollingsworth.
Mrs. Horne was employed by Burroughs Corporation, later known as Unisys, for 52 years, which is the longest employment tenure in the history of the company. Following her retirement at age 75, she volunteered regularly for more than 20 years at Grady Hospital in the nursery and at Piedmont Hospital delivering flowers.
She was active at Peachtree Presbyterian Church for 60 years, where before her move to Presbyterian Village, she worked in the flower room preparing flowers from the Sunday worship services to be delivered to members who were homebound or hospitalized.
Mrs. Horne loved traveling and through the years visited a number of countries in Europe and Asia, as well as her travels within the United States.
She will be remembered for her sweet smile, positive attitude, giving spirit, and kind and gentle manner. A memorial service will be held at Presbyterian Village, Morris Health Services Lakeview Room, 2000 East-West Connector, Austell, GA 30106 April 13, 2015 at 3:00 in the afternoon with private interment in Thomasville, GA. Mrs. Horne is survived by a host of friends and admirers.
