Ellen C. Pierce Fleming, 85, passed away of natural causes Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Delmar Gardens Nursing Home in Smyrna, GA. She was born December 10, 1925 in Fowler, MI.
Ellen was a devote Catholic who prayed everyday for those she loved. She enjoyed a multitude of sports and received many trophies for her efforts. Her zest for life allowed her to play tennis into her 80th year; play cards and bingo into her mid-eighties; and, enrich the lives of those who met her until her death.
Everyone who knew Ellen experienced her caring ways and valued her friendship and fun personality. She will be missed immensely but will always remain in our hearts and wonderful memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Fleming 61 and her brother John W. Pierce 70. She is survived by three children, Barbara Froh Atlanta, William Fleming, Jr. Ft. Lauderdale and Nancy Fleming Smyrna; her sister, Leona Pierce Gloden; her sister-in-law, Jane Pierce; and, many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A private memorial will be held with her children, at her request. In lieu of flowers, a donation, in memory of Ellen, to the Arthritis National Research Foundation, 200 Oceangate, Suite 830, Long Beach, CA, 90802, is requested.
