Eleanor Mae Wood (née Howard) passed away at the age of 94 on October 25, 2020. She was born in Merced, Calif. and lived with her husband Walter Wood on Merritt Island, Fla. for 45 years. She is survived by her daughters Donna, Susan, and Patricia, her son Walter and her grandchildren Cara, Mary, and Elizabeth. She moved to Marietta, Ga. in 2000, and later relocated to Sandy Springs, where she enjoyed her remaining years. Eleanor spent her life in service to the church, where she sang in the choir and volunteered with various secular and community organizations. She was a talented singer, seamstress and visual artist, who would offer help to anyone in need. Her support of her husband and family included clerical support for her husband’s private business and his career as a choral director of musical performances. She was always supportive of her children and grandchildren’s careers and personal creative pursuits. She left a legacy as a loving wife, mother and friend, and as a woman of deep and selfless faith. A virtual memorial was held on November 17, 2020 at Sandy Springs Christian Church, where she had been a devoted member for over 20 years. She will be missed by her family, friends, religious community, and all those who were touched by her helpful and compassionate nature.
