Deborah Ann Reato
Deborah Reato, 54, of Grayson Georgia previous resident of Pembroke Pines, Florida passed away on July 13, 2015. Deborah was the Director of Veteran Success and the Director of the One Stop Shop at Georgia Gwinnett College. Deborah will be sorely missed by friends and family. Deborah is survived by 2 brothers, James Conchita, and Paul Sue , and sister Teresa and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by father John and mother Mary Reato. Deborahs wish was to take care of her veterans at Georgia Gwinnett College, therefore the family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to GGCFoundation.org/giving and in tribute section enter Deborah Reato. Memorial to be held at a furture date.

I first met Debbie at Pauls’ & Scotts’ 35 years with ATT dinner. Following that, I appreciated her supportive role when attending Pauls’ close knit family gatherings. What struck me most about Debbie is, as is such with all my warm, supportive family of friends, her depth of understanding for the human condition. Debbie would be the one responsible for sharing with us yet another resource associated with giving back to something much bigger than ourselves. Because of beautiful Debbie, we now purchase practical items made by “Ten thousand villages,” a place dedicated to saving the lives of otherwise impoverished women and children in third world nations. Every time I receive notification of their present forward moving status, I think of Debbie with great value.
I first met Debra when I came to Barry University. She was a regular at the Fine Arts Faculty lunch table and a deep and abiding friendship was forged. Debra was never more alive than when she was helping someone else….solve a problem, meet a challenge, achieve a goal. I was privileged to be one of the many people who lent their care and support during her final illness. She was a terrific example of how the care and love you put out into the world finally come back to you. She will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
Debbie was an amazing woman, I worked with her for many years here at Barry University. She was so full of life, quick witted, funny, great cook, had a great shoulder to lean on. Deb, would have given the shirt off her back. I truly feel Blessed for having her as a friend.
I remember when I was hired as one of the Work Studies for the Office of the Registrar where Ms. Reato worked at the time. It was a beautiful experience because of the warmth and love that came from the individuals with whom I worked. Ms. Reato treated me with such respect and sincerity. She was always so cheerful and full of wisdom. She took me under her wings as though she had known for longer than she did. There was just always some thing about her lovely presence–one I will cherish forever. I am saddened by her passing and will miss her daily updates via social media but my heart rejoices in knowing that she is no longer suffering in pain and most importantly, that she is in the arms of the Lord.

Debbie was my mentor as well as my supervisor. My confidante. She was full of energy. Very generous. I missed her when she left Barry and Florida. I’m really gonna miss her now.

We served together in the QIP Committee, we attended classes and studied together towards our Master degree, we carpooled, we laughed and cried together. Debbie was the kind of friend that you could count on to chase away the dark clouds. I owed so much to her. She trained me when I went to
work at the School of Education. No question was too trivial for her. She shared her knowledge openly and enthusiatically . When the position opened for the Executive Assistant to the Provost, she didn’t give up reassuring me that I could do it. Her encouragement was sincere. Anyone who really knew Debbie could see that her greatest joy came in doing everything in her power to help her friends excel.

I am a friend to Paul Reato and worked at BellSouth with him for many years in Miami. He recently informed me about his sister Deborah who had been battling cancer. Paul had been taking trips to Ga. during her final days and I commend him as being a loving brother. Debbie was simply the best at her job, with a great can-do attitude and a delightful sense of humor. She’s been deeply missed at Barry since her departure.
