Cecelia Martha Dubay Johnson, 95, recently of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2019. Cecelia (Ceil) was born in Granite City, Illinois, on July 19, 1923, to Joseph and Martha Dubay of Poland. She was a proud WWII veteran who enlisted and served as an active duty private in the United States Marine Corp Women’s Reserve at Camp Pendleton, California, from 1943 until the end of WWII.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Norman J. Johnson, of Waupaca Wisconsin (President of FMC f/k/a Galis Manufacturing in Fairmont). They lived in Fairmont, WV, from 1964 until 2006 and then relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. Ceil was very active at Christ Episcopal Church in Fairmont where she served on the altar guild and many other activities, loved to play golf with her friends and family at the Fairmont Field Club, and belonged to the local garden club, and many other women’s groups. She was a volunteer at Fairmont General Hospital and attended Fairmont State College to pursue her love of art. She excelled at canvas paintings, stencils, arts & crafts, sewing and cooking. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and above all, she loved the Lord and served Him faithfully by helping others throughout her life.

Ceil is survived by her younger sister Jean Schwartzkopf of Madison Illinois; two sons: Norman and wife Patty (Priolette) Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas and wife Dawn (Bullock) Johnson of Peachtree City, Georgia; four grandchildren Natalie Johnson Charles and husband, Matthew; Grant Johnson and wife Brittany; Danielle Johnson Pasierb and husband Michael, and Joshua Johnson; and six great grandchildren: Ella and Emily Charles, Jules and Jane Johnson, Gavin and Dawson Pasierb.

After a memorial service at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Ceil’s cremains will be placed next to her husband Norman’s in the memorial garden at Christ Episcopal church in Fairmont, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund at www.curealz.org.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Georgia on April 8, 2019 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments at All Saints Episcopal Church will follow the service
