Betty Anne Freeman Durant, age 89, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away in Atlanta Hospice on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. Originally from Savannah, Georgia, she was a graduate of Armstrong Junior College and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. She worked as a professional artist throughout her life with a focus on painting animals-both wild and domestic, realistic and whimsical, and she enjoyed sharing classes, clubs and studio time with friends. She was always pleased to share her stories, knowledge and ideas with others, and she will be terribly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Leola Clark Freeman and Davis Freeman of Savannah. She is survived by her husband, George Durant; her daughter, Roxane Durant Lawrence Charlie, of Cleveland, Ohio; her two granddaughters, Hilary and Madison Rheinheimer of Ohio; her sister, Georgia Freeman Hicks of Morrisville, TN; and her nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends was held on Wednesday, December 9 at Binders Art Supply Store Gallery in the Peachtree Piedmont Cross Shopping Center: 3330 Piedmont Rd., Atlanta, GA 30305. In her memory, “make art and feel better,” or make a contribution to a non-profit that celebrates the value of artistic expression.
