Diane Kenny

Diane Kenny, 67, a lifelong resident of Katonah, New York who most recently resided in Atlanta, Georgia died on Tuesday, July 16, 2025 at Emory University Hospital. Diane was surrounded by the love of family and friends telling stories, laughing, crying and sharing many hugs. Her smile, her laugh and the love she shared with all is what will be remembered by those who were fortunate to be her family, friend or coworker.
Diane was born January 18, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY. She is the daughter of the late Liam and late Jean (Grubert) Kenny.
Diane graduated from Harvard College in 1980 and Northeastern Law School in 1983. She was a part of the Harvard (Radcliffe) 8-person lightweight crew team and was an avid runner. She completed two New York City marathons with her father in the late 1970’s and always saw those runs as a family affair. Diane spent many years in real estate development in New Jersey with The Sammis Company (a/k/a Gale & Wentworth) as its Vice President for new project approvals for various large residential, commercial and utility developments in the central part of the state. She retired from real estate in 2000 to spend more time with her family.
She was known throughout her life as an immensely generous person who cared deeply for others. Her intelligence, humor, sharp wit and compassion stood apart. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and was often found walking with friends at her favorite places on Reservoir Road in Katonah, Stone Barns, Great Swamp and around Manchester Vermont.
Diane is survived by her husband Bob(by) Hackett who she met at Harvard College and have enjoyed 41 years of marriage; three sons: Ryan Hackett (Kristina Morales) of Atlanta, GA, Sean Hackett (Erin Knapp) of Scituate, MA, and Liam Hackett of Atlanta, GA. Her two grandsons reside in Atlanta, GA with their mother Stephanie Hackett.
She is also survived by her siblings: Jeanne-Marie McCarthy (Jack) of Eastport, NY, William Kenny (Lorena) of Pelham Manor, NY, Catherine Brown (Dan Marklin) of Babylon, NY, Marianne Kelly (Chris) of Sayville, NY, Michael Kenny of Katonah, NY, Arthur Kenny (Lia) of Pelham Manor, NY, and Ellen Meagher (Justin) Pelham Manor, NY, and 18 nieces and nephews.
A gathering and celebration of life will occur in the early fall at a place to be
determined in Westchester County, NY with details to follow.
