Robert Simpson Blalock, Jr., 93, of Milledgeville, GA, passed away April 5. Born in Douglasville on November 14, 1922, to Robert Simpson Blalock Sr. & Jesse May Blalock. He joined the Merchant Marines in 1939 and served during WWII; Bob survived his ship being torpedoed & sunk twice. Bob married Virginia Crowe Thomas in 1947 in Union, SC; married 45 years until her death in 1992. In 1958, Bob moved his family from Union to Charlotte, NC, and worked for Cook Body Company until he joined K-Mart as a manager. Bob was transferred to Atlanta in 1974, living in east Marietta. Bob met and married Martha Lowe Cook in 1993 after meeting at their church, First United Methodist in Marietta. Bob and Martha moved to Winder in 2007. In 2013 Bob moved to the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.

Bob leaves his wife Martha, daughter Roberta Robbie Blalock Duncan, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and stepson Dr. John Elgin. He was preceded in death by his son, Harold Donald Blalock, Sr., his brother Frank and sisters Elma and Myrtle Lea.

Inurnment at 2 PM, Friday, May 6, at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
