Donald Paul “Big D” Dallas, Sr
Don, 79, passed away on October 30, 2017 at his home in Dahlonega, Georgia surrounded by his family. He was a beloved spouse, father, brother and grandfather. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew him.
Don was born in Miami, Florida on December 29, 1937. He attended Jackson Senior High School in Miami, Florida. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1954 to 1958. After his service in the Air Force, he was a fireman at Station No. 1 City of Miami Fire Department. He then obtained a position as a Field Support Engineer with RCA and Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). Don retired after 18 years with DEC, after achieving the position of MIS District Manager.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Barkley Dallas and Sally Lunell Dallas (nee Burkett) and siblings, Linda Dallas and Albert Dallas.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia Gayle Dallas (nee Smith) of Dahlonega, GA; by his four children Catherine Dallas of Dahlonega, GA, Donald Dallas, Jr [Melanie] of Jasper, GA, Theresa Draper [Avery] of Douglasville, GA and Laura Natella [Kevin] of Ft. Myers, FL; by his siblings, Shirley Wyatt of Lutz, FL, David Dallas of Eustis, FL, Deborah Graber of Panama City, FL and Steven Dallas of Margate, FL; by his nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be sent to help The American Kidney Fund at www.kidneyfund.org.
