Thomas Alfred Young
Thomas Alfred Young, 79, of Dunwoody, Georgia, died Sunday, December 2, in his home, after a lengthy illness. Tom was born in Lady Smith, British Columbia, and grew up in Chemainus. He studied at The University of British Columbia and followed in his father’s footsteps, working for MacMillan Bloedel for 38 years.
Tom married Jacqueline Cole in 1965, and together they had two sons. Tom’s job took the family from Canada to New York, Alabama, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and finally, Georgia, where they have resided since 1978.
Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jackie, their two sons, Marshall, and Miles, daughter-in-law, Kari, and two beloved grandchildren, Clara and Cole, as well as his brother, David, who resides in Victoria, British Columbia.
Tom liked to travel, play golf, watch Alabama football, and keep tabs on the stock market. He could often be found at a local establishment as going out for lunch was his favorite past-time. Tom will be remembered for his love of family, sharp sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and enjoyment of the good times.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, December 15 at 3 p.m. at Saint David’s Episcopal Church, 1015 Old Roswell Rd, Roswell, GA 30076 with Anne Elizabeth Swiedler officiating. There will be a reception directly following the service at St. David’s.

I’m so sorry to hear about Tom’s passing. I pray that the hope the bible gives us at Revelation 21:4 brings you comfort until you see your dear Tom again. (John 5:28,29)
We are so sorry for your loss. We feel blessed that we were able to see Tom from time to time when he babysat the grandkids down at Mill Glen. He was a great man and a great grandfather. You and yours are in our thoughts and orayers.
Tom and I had lunch together each Tuesday for the past 10-12 years. Together, we solved a multitude of problems. I will miss my friend and know he fought one heck of a battle.
Jackie, so sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. He was such a good man. I will never forget you introducing my to John Griswold and Epiphany Church in Walpole. I think of you so often and of your kindness. You helped me through a time of terrible homesickness for my family in Pennsylvania.

I am very sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. I have great memories of Tom as we grew up as teenagers in Chemainus, our win at the BCJuvenile Championships in Kamlops in 1957, graduating from Ladysmith High School. Although I haven’t seen Tom in many years, it sounds like he had a life well-lived and my sympathies go to his family.
The Young’s lived on Beach Drive in Chemainus, which is on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
Tom and David and the three Latta boys , who also lived on that famous street, shared many adventures with both Tom and David. We send our love and condolence to Tom’s family, and a special amount of love
to his brother David. David and Tom were very close, so this loss will stay with him forever. Jackie, the entire Latta family, Doug, Mort, Wendy, and Ray, want you and your entire family to know that we

Jackie, We just found this obituary on Tom and wanted to send our sincere thoughts and prayers. We enjoyed our years shared with you all in Walpole, Ma.. We were all so young and had so much fun with the MacMillan group. It is with such fondness that we remember Tom and all the wonderful times he and Bob had traveling together.
