Marianne Beverly Padgett

Marianne Padgett passed away on November 17, 2019. She was born on November 23, 1926 in Thomaston, Georgia to the late William A. Beverly, Jr. and the late Ethel Cook Beverly. She was preceded in death by her son Joel Padgett her husband Dr. Nelson Mallory.
Marianne spent most of her adult life as a psychotherapist. She helped many people to heal and grow and lived her life in service to others.
Marianne asked that her body be cremated and her ashes spread near a flowing stream. Any donations in her honor should be made to a nonprofit dedicated to the mental health of those in need.

Marianne was the amazing mother to my brother Joel, or JJ, as he was called in my family. She and I became very close when JJ got sick. I had the honor of being with her and Joel when he passed. It was definitely a time that sealed our bond as family.
My mother passed when I was 21, and Marianne and Nelson embraced me like loving, gentle parents do for their own children. They provided such wisdom and guidance as I made career and schooling decisions. I’m very grateful for their love and support. I have a box of the most beautifully written letters from both of them. I will treasure those letters forever.
Love and miss you,
BB
Your sweet little southern daughter(as Nelson referred to me)
