William John Johns 3/5/1917-9/26/2016 passed away at Remington House, just a few months shy of his goal to reach 100. The rest of his life, however, was filled with many goals met and exceed. He and his brother were the first two in his family to graduate from college. He was a Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army during WW II serving as a codebreaker. He worked at the Pentagon and retired from the Government Service Agency after helping computerize many European countries’ postal and census bureaus. He started and eventually sold a computer data company, and came back to work for the government to computerize the Postal Data Center in Atlanta. He was married to his wife, Virginia, for 59 years and they had two sons, Bob and Bill. He is survived by those sons, a daughter-in-law Stephanie, and three grandchildren, Brynn, Noah and Sam.
A memorial service will be held at Saint Simons Church in Conyers 1522 Hwy 138 NE on Thursday, September 29 at 2:00.
