Vera Kilgore Merrell

Vera Kilgore Merrell was called home to be with her heavenly father on May 23, 2020, she died at her home in Acworth, Georgia.

Vera was born July 26, 1933 in Somerville, Massachusetts and moved to Atlanta, Georgia with her family in 1944 at the age of 11.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Walker Merrell; parents, Sexton Thomas Kilgore and Ruby Harris Kilgore of Atlanta, Georgia; her son, Michael Cochran and her daughter, Carol Payne and husband, Robert; her brothers, Sexton Kilgore Jr., Albert Kilgore, Jon Kilgore and her sister Mamie Johnson.

She is survived by her daughters, Carla Briley, Leisa Cash, daughter in law, Millie Cochran; sons in law, John Briley and Paul Cash; sister in law, Virginia Merrell; grandchildren, David Briley, Amanda Briley and husband Allen, Michael Cochran II and wife Jocelyn, Marcus Cochran, Erin Jones and Justin Cash; great grandchildren, Devan Briley, Dylan Cole, Avery Cole, Allison Cole, Felicity Cochran, Everett Cochran, Evelyn Cochran and Emelia Cochran; many nieces and nephews as well as her beloved friend and caregiver, David Cotton.

Vera trained and worked as an operating room technician at Piedmont Hospital and later became a records specialist and worked until she retired from the State of Georgia Archives Annex.

The family will plan a Memorial to be held at her home for fellowship among friends and family to celebrate her life.
