Thomas Wilbert Belling

Thomas W. Belling, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on September 11, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born on June 24, 1940, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Bill and Maye Belling, 19 minutes after his identical twin brother and lifelong best friend, Bob.

After spending his youth in Battle Creek, Michigan, Tom’s family relocated to Hollywood, Florida, where he graduated from South Broward High School. He went on to attend the University of Florida, earning a degree in business while playing on the golf team and serving as a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Tom subsequently served in the U.S. Navy. After graduating from Officer Candidate School, he served as a lieutenant aboard a destroyer tender stationed in San Diego, California. While stationed there, he met Iris Harding of Halifax, Virginia, who would become his loving wife.

Tom began his career with The Coca-Cola Company before finding his professional home at IBM, where he enjoyed 25 successful years in sales and management. IBM brought him to Atlanta in 1969. After serving in an interim role in Kansas City, Kansas, he returned with his family to the Atlanta area and settled in Roswell.

A lifelong golfer, Tom played courses throughout the world, treasuring both the game and the friendships he built along the way. For 44 years, he was a member and resident of The Country Club of Roswell, where he served on the board. He also thoroughly enjoyed his membership and board service with the Georgia Senior Golf Association. At Mount Pisgah Church, he was an active member of the G2R Sunday school class.

Tom and Iris were married for nearly 60 years. Together, they enjoyed annual beach trips with their children and grandchildren, as well as traveling and cruising around the globe. Tom was deeply proud of his two daughters and five grandchildren. Over the years, “Gramps” attended countless sporting events, music and dance recitals, and cherished grandparents’ days. He always offered words of advice and support as his grandchildren grew into adulthood.

Tom is survived by his wife, Iris Belling; daughters, Lynn Belling Dorrill (Lee) and Kristen Belling Williams (Kelly); grandchildren, Haylee, Collin (Abigail), and Clay Dorrill, and Avery and Caroline Williams; and twin brother, Robert P. Belling (Beverly).

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert “Bill” Belling; mother, Maye Belling; and brother, William “Bill” Belling.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on September 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Pisgah Church in Johns Creek, Georgia.
