Stephen Royston Cutts (November 18, 1954 – August 19, 2026)
Steve sadly passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71 on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. Born in Swansea, Wales, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada, with his parents, Freda and Kenneth “Roy” Cutts. The eldest of four, he grew up in Toronto with his sister, Andrea Babin, and his brothers, Brian and Terry Cutts. In high school, he met the love of his life, Jeannie Springflower Johnson. They married at 19 and embarked on a wonderful adventure that lasted 52 years.
In 1993, Steve immigrated to Atlanta, Georgia, with Jeannie and their two sons, David and Daniel. He and Jeannie launched a sheet metal manufacturing company, growing it into the success it is today. The family expanded, and he welcomed two daughters-in-law, Kelly and Priya, and four grandsons, James, Colin, Mikhail, and Esa. Steve wanted to be the best “Papa” ever, and as with most things in his life, he succeeded.
A lover of all things sports, Steve was ever-present in his sons’ lives, coaching and endlessly tying up hockey skates. Together, the family spent weekends crisscrossing southern Ontario, the U.S. Northeast, and Southeast, traveling to tournaments. He loved playing baseball as a shortstop, where he earned the name “Dusty” for his spectacular diving catches. He played hockey into his late 50s until he was sidelined by a shoulder injury. Later in life, he took up golf, tennis, and pickleball with the same enthusiasm. A lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, he never gave up on them bringing the Stanley Cup home just one more time.
Steve was a huge fan of music, always looking for the next concert. He loved to sing, and his voice filled his home and workspace, spreading optimism and positive energy to everyone around him.
A citizen of three countries, he truly was a man of the world. Together with Jeannie, he traveled to nearly 70 countries on six continents. He would absorb and adopt local cultures, collecting interesting and funny stories to tell. When he wasn’t traveling, he was planning their next trip.
Happy and healthy to the end, he wasn’t ready for his grand adventure to end. We’re sure he’s asking, “What’s the plan?” right now. His generous, optimistic, and humorous spirit will be forever missed in this world by all who knew him.
Lovingly remembered by his family and many, many friends.
Steve was a lover of dogs, with a soft spot for scruffy little terrier rescues. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Fulton County Animal Services or the Toronto Humane Society. It will be greatly appreciated.
Per the family’s wishes, a celebration of life will be planned for a future date, with details forthcoming.
