Mrs. Sallie Lee Causey of 203 Broadus Road, Rome, Ga., died at her home on January 17, 2012.

Sallie was born in Rome, Ga. on July 8, 1921, as one of nine children of George Willis and Bertie Lily Roberts Swinford. Preceding her in death were her parents and brothers Otto, Lewis, George, Herbert, and Hugh Swinford, and sisters Martha Lance and Nancy McClung.

Sallie was married on October 5, 1940 to William Arley Bill Causey, who preceded her in death on January 30, 1989. Sallie and Bill owned and operated the Ric-Sue Food Market for over twenty years in downtown Rome. After retirement, they raised cattle on their family farm, which they, their children, and especially their grandchildren, loved.

For years Sallie was of the Baptist faith but recently had enjoyed being a member of the Adult Fellowship Class of Rome First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Sue Jim Alford of Rome, Ga., and one son, Rick Patti Causey of Dekle Beach, Fl.; four grandsons, Wade Alford of Rome, Ga., Jason Tera Alford of Murfreesboro, Tn., Rusty Amanda Causey of Jacksonville, Fl., Blair Kami Alford of Acworth, Ga.; six great grandchildren Kaylee, Jackson, Kaleb, Jacob, and Leah Alford and Ford Causey. Also surviving are one brother, Henry Donnis Swinford and one sister-in-law Gennette Swinford, all of Rome, Ga., and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Rome First United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Jane Brooks officiating and David Henderson delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends in the Rome First United Methodist Church Wilder Center Dining Room from 12:30 pm until 1:45 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Sallie Causey Memorial Fund at the Coosa River Basin Initiative CRBI, 408 Broad Street, Rome, Ga
