Robert Vernon Brooks

Robert Vernon “Bob” Brooks passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia where he was receiving treatment for cancer. Bob Brooks was born April 8, 1947 in New York, NY, a son of the late Vernon S. and Bernice Vieczorec Brooks.
Bob was proud United States Marine Corps veteran. He was a retired radio industry executive having worked with stations in south east including Richmond, VA, Charlotte, NC, Charleston, SC, Augusta GA, Tallahassee, FL . Bob attended the University of South Carolina and received his MBA from the University of Richmond. He loved his family and being the “Daddy Tool”. He enjoyed traveling, golf, baseball, reading and music.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Claudia Bell Brooks, daughter, Nicole B. Knopp, son, Robert P. Brooks Becca, and grandson, Percy Brooks, all of the family home in Summerville, SC. His siblings include Ronald V. Brooks Gayle of Newberry, SC and Barbara B. Woodruff Henry of Richland, WA.
His memorial service will be held Saturday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cuthbert Community Center at Azalea Park, 105 W 5th S Street, Summerville, SC. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to United Way of the Midlands, 1800 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or Bethel United Methodist Church, 314 Mallards Lake Road, Dorchester, SC 29437.
