Robert Ray Baldree, age 65, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, after two months in critical care first at Piedmont Macon Hospital, then at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. He was surrounded by his family and lots of love.
Robert was born on September 1, 1960, in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada, the son of Bobby Ray Baldree, Sr. and Lucy Hardeman Baldree. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States on July 28, 1970. He has lived in middle Georgia since 1989 and has spent time in both Byron and Macon.
Robert graduated from Irwin County High School in 1978, before serving in the United States Navy until honorably discharged in 1984. He then went on to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, where he earned an Associate in Science with High Honors in Business Administration, as well as an Associate in Science with Honors in Mathematics, both in 1986. He also attended Southern College of Technology in Marietta, where he earned a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Computer Engineering Technology in 1989.
Robert married the love of his life, Barbara Denmark Baldree, on April 27, 1984, at Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Irwin County. They were married for 41 long years and had three daughters – Colleen, Rhianna, and Sarah.
Robert worked in IT for more than thirty years and most recently worked as a Network Operations Manager at AiOS Group in Macon, and he was hospitalized one week before his planned retirement from this role at the end of August 2025.
Robert especially loved spending his spare time kayaking, woodworking, deer hunting, and riding motorcycles. He spent many hours teaching and playing chess out at Camp Vinson Valley and his local recreation center. He never turned down a chance for adventure, traveling the world and accumulating stories and life lessons that he enjoyed sharing for years to follow. He also loved to spend time in his backyard each day, playing fetch with his loyal Blue Heeler pup, Oliver (Ollie) Baldree.
Robert was a member of Byron Heritage Church (formerly Byron United Methodist Church) for over 30 years, where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and held various teaching and leadership roles throughout his time there.
He will be remembered for his endless fount of knowledge and pursuit thereof, as well as his strength, quick wit and sense of humor, and love for his family (especially his girls). Even as a man of science and logic, he was steadfast and strong in his Christian faith and values.
Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara Denmark Baldree of Macon, GA, and his children: Dr. Colleen Marie Quick (Costner Quick) of North Augusta, SC; Rhianna Nicole Baldree (Alexander Seidler) of Sandy, OR; and Sarah Gwendolyn Baldree of Atlanta, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Baldree, Sr. of Irwinville, GA, and his older brother, Larry Keith Baldree, of Irwinville, GA.
