Ray Cheirs Norvell

July 16, 1926 — March 16, 2015

Ray C. Norvell, Sr. of Dunwoody Georgia, former Dekalb County Superior Court Judge and attorney, loving husband, father, and proud veteran died on March 16, 2015 at the age of 88 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mininie Louise Norvell “Topsy”, his son in law Daniel Clay Bennett, his parents and six siblings. He is survived by four children, Judy Norvell Grogan, Ray C. Norvell, Jr., Barbara Lynn Norvell and Melanie Marie Norvell, two grandchildren, Heidi Grogan Mabry and Amie Grogan Hart, four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Ray was a World War II veteran, United States Army, 25th infantry division, 3rd battalion, tropical lightning unit. He was a flame thrower responsible for flushing the enemy out of their caves on Luzon. After the war he was stationed in the Phillipines until he returned home to marry, start a family and begin his career. He became an active member of the legal community, Republican Party, and the “OLD WARHORSE LAWYER’S CLUB” as well as the Christian community of North Atlanta Church of Christ.
He loved people. People loved him back. He loved the Lord, his family and his dogs. He is and will continue to be deeply missed.
