Mr. Oliver Kenneth Lewis, Jr., 94, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away on November 10, 2015. He was born in Atlanta on December 16, 1920 to Aimee Johness Lewis and Oliver Kenneth Lewis, Sr. A member of the Sigma Nu fraternity, he graduated from Georgia Tech in 1943 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, then moved to Oak Ridge, TN to work on the Manhattan project, where he married Monnie Lewis of Decaturville, TN, in 1946. They moved to Albany, GA, where they lived and reared their two sons, and Ken established his own successful consulting engineering firm. Upon Monnie’s death in 1982, Ken moved to Atlanta and married Gloria Johnson Armbruster in 1984. He was a Life Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a Life Fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He served on the Georgia State Board of Registration for Engineers and Land Surveyors. In Albany, he was active in Boy Scouts, and became an avid golfer. In Atlanta, he became a member of Ansley Golf Club, where he scored a hole-in-one. He taught English as a second language at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. His other interests included woodworking, photography, fishing, shooting, and amateur radio call sign W4EVV. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Gloria Johnson Lewis, and his brother, John Allen Lewis, Sr. Survivors include his sons Mark, of Lawrenceville, GA, Philip Diane, of Madison, AL, granddaughters Jennifer Marie Lewis, of Huntsville, AL, and Julia Lewis Jung, of Winder, GA, three great-grandsons, one nephew, and three nieces. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Church, 85 Gloster Road, Lawrenceville, GA on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon to follow. His ashes will be interred at Crown Hill Cemetery, Albany, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Marguerite d’Youville Catholic Church, Catholic Charities, or the Georgia Tech Foundation.
