Mary Lewis

Mary Gibbes Plumb Lewis, age 100, of Atlanta, Ga., died quietly at home on April 29, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen J. Lewis Jr., and is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth L. Nuendorfer and Frances L. Casselman, sons-in-law Max Nuendorfer and Bill Casselman, and grandson Andy Rutledge. Also surviving are her niece, Elizabeth P. Saylor of N.C., and nephew, Richard I. Lowndes III of Tenn. Mary was born in Atlanta, the daughter of Francis Waring Plumb and Mary Thomas Gibbes Plumb of Augusta. She was proud to have served with the U.S. Coast Guard in Boston during World War II.

Funeral services and interment will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 680 W. Peachtree St. at 11:00 am Thursday May 3, 2012 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Befrienders Ministry at All Saints’, or to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund there.
