Mary "Becky" Bess Vining

“Becky” Vining (Mary Tallant Vining), 90, passed March 5, 2018. Born in 1927, Becky grew up in and around Atlanta and North Georgia, eventually marrying her high-school sweetheart William “Gordon” Vining in 1945. They had 3 children, Cheryl Howe Stricker, William Alan Vining and Judy Lynn Howard (deceased). She is also survived by grandchildren, Julie Howe Paulsen, Bryan Vining, Katherine Howe and Bethany Howard, and great-grandchildren Drew and Alex Paulsen and Harper and Jessica Vining. Living around the Decatur area, Becky worked in insurance for many years, mostly for the Jim Dean Agency. A devout church-goer, Becky attended Oak Grove United Methodist Church for over 60 years, often playing piano for her Graydon Sunday-school class. Always involved, active and helpful within the church and the local community, Becky will certainly be sorely missed by her many friends. Her Memorial Service will be on Sunday, March 25th, 2:00 pm at Oak Grove, followed immediately by a Reception and Remembrance. All are Welcome. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Oak Grove Music Ministry are appreciated.
