Mark Edward Lawson

November 8, 1973 — July 12, 2019

Our beloved brother, uncle, brother-in-law, co-worker and friend, Mark Edward Lawson of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully Friday evening, July 12th after several weeks of battling multiple health issues. Mark was 45 years of age and was born on November 8, 1973 in Castle Rock, Colorado. Mark was preceded in death by both of his parents, Gerald “Jerry” Grant and Elaine Louise Lawson, his sister, Kathryn Lawson as well as his older brother, Matthew Gerald Lawson. Mark comes from a very large Catholic family and is survived by nine lovely and wonderful sisters (Corrine, Cecilia, Lorraine, Monica, Jane, Helen, Lenore, Rosemary and Rachel) as well as one younger brother Zachary “Zach”. In addition, Mark was a loving and adored uncle to a multitude of nieces and nephews through his enormously large, but extremely close family.

Mark had an extremely active and vibrant life. He played football for Montana Tech in Butte, Montana while acquiring a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. However, his main passion in life was adventuring into the outdoors through his deep and relentless love for hunting and fishing. Mark hunted all over the world from the mountains of Montana and Colorado to the back woods of Southeast Georgia to expeditions in South Africa. We believe Mark owned enough hunting and fishing equipment to stock a Bass Pro Shop and still need room for storage. In addition, Mark was an active member of the Georgia Chapter of Safari Club International holding the office of Secretary.

Mark pursued a life of working to LIVE versus living to work. Having said that, he was a very successful engineer with the PRAD Group here in Atlanta having worked for them for over 15 years. Mark specialized in the design of HVAC systems and worked on numerous projects and well-known buildings throughout the metropolitan Atlanta and surrounding areas.

Mark was an extremely kind and likeable person. At any time, if a friend, loved one or stranger ever needed help, Mark would drop what he was doing on a moment’s notice to come and assist regardless of the circumstances. Mark was also set in his ways and knew a lot about a lot, and wasn’t afraid to give his opinion, which at times could be frustrating yet oddly appealing at the same time.

Mark was young and his death came way to soon, but he lived his life to the fullest and touched so many of us in such memorable and precious ways. We are happy that he is no longer suffering with health issues that he had endured for so many years and now know that he is finally at peace with our precious Lord and Savior in heaven.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, people make a donation in Mark’s remembrance to the Georgia Safari Club. To donate, please go to: www.georgiasafariclub.com/MarkLawson
