Marietta E. Sandidge

Marietta Estes Sandidge, 95, departed life on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the home of her daughter, Josephine Kroger in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Sandidge was born in Louisville, Kentucky on November 11, 1916, the second child and oldest daughter of Bedford Ronald and Elizabeth Gilkey Estes. After her marriage to C. E. Sandidge, Jr. in 1938, Mrs. Sandidge lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Kingsport, Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Sandidge was an avid reader and loved to travel, work in her garden and watch baseball. Mrs. Sandidge was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond Estes and Robert Estes, two sisters Narcissa Estes and Imogene Cisler, a grandson, Mark Sandidge and granddaughter, Jennifer Otis. She is survived by one sister, Ethel Sayre of Lexington, Kentucky; daughter and son-in-law Josephine and Fred Kroger of Atlanta, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law Edson and Judith Sandidge of Kingsport, Tennessee; daughter Julie Sandidge of Fredericksburg, Virginia, five grand-children, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on January 26 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the First Baptist Church, Kingsport, Tennessee.
