Kenneth F. Sapp passed away quietly at home on November 21, 2015. Mr. Sapp was born to Louise H. and Kenneth F. Sapp in Atlanta on September 20, 1925. He attended Morningside Elementary School through the fifth grade after which he and his parents moved to Ottawa, Illinois. Upon graduation from Ottawa High School in 1943 Mr. Sapp enlisted in the U.S.Navy serving with VB-74 aboard the U.S.S. Midway until he was honorably discharged from active duty in April 1946. Upon his discharge from the Navy Mr. Sapp enrolled in the University of Georgia School of Journalism and subsequently met his future wife, Barbara G. Black also of Atlanta. He graduated from Georgia in 1949 after which he worked as a sports writer at The Atlanta Journal and later as an advertising executive at Sears Roebuck and Co. In April 1953 Mr. Sapp married Miss Black and joined his father’s business as Division Manager of Textile Enterprises where he worked until retirement in 1986. He also served in the Naval Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Commander in July 1970. Mr. Sapp enjoyed gardening and became certified as a Master Gardner working at Hastings and Pike’s garden centers. He was an active member of the Morningside and Peachtree Presbyterian Churches. Mr. Sapp was predeceased by his wife of nearly fifty one years and he is survived by his two sons Mark P. and David A. Sapp and his beloved granddaughter Carter A. Sapp. A memorial service will be held at Morningside Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
