Julie Orris Mcneal Compton

Julie Orris McNeal Compton, 82, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at home in Sandy Springs, Georgia after a brief illness. Julie was born on July 28th, 1940 in New York, New York to James Homer and Beatrice Gannon McNeal.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ralph Compton; one brother, Richard McNeil(Carol McNeil) of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Julie graduated from Albany High School in Albany, Georgia. Afterwards, she received a degree in Fine Arts from Valdosta College and a MA degree in Library Science from Emory. She worked for 37 years at the Fulton County Library managing various branches and was head of the Fine Arts Department.

After retirement Julie enjoyed spending time at her beach house, Bayou Belle, on the panhandle of Florida. She loved cooking, reading and her precious dog, Bo.

At Julie’s request, there will be no formal services.
