PRATHER, Jeraldine
Jeraldine “Jerry” Poythress Prather, 81, of Jackson, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family the morning of February 4, 2014. She was born on July 13, 1932 in Effingham County Georgia to Jerry and Bessie Edwards Poythress.
She met her soul mate, Orrin Lee Prather, Jr., while in Atlanta for nurse’s training. On June 10, 1952, they were married. Though they moved several times throughout their 61 years of marriage, they settled on Jackson Lake in 1998.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Poythress, and son-in-law Michael Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, “Lee”; sister Jackie Miller Lester; brother James “Henry” Poythress Louisa; son David Lee Prather Susan; and daughter Vicki Prather Taylor. She was known affectionately as “Peaches” by her grandchildren Angela Marie Taylor, Amanda Prather Seaman Craig, Kevin Michael Taylor, Travis Lee Prather Lindsay, and Valerie Taylor Dalziel Ben and great-grandson Hendrix Lee Prather. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
