Jean Clapp Donohoe

February 15, 1926 — June 16, 2018

Mrs. Jean Winslow Clapp Donohoe of Lilburn, Georgia formerly of Northlake area died September 15, 2018.  She was born February 15, 1926 and was predeceased by her parents Mabel Marshall Brown and Everett Carlton Clapp of Brockton, Massachusetts.  She was also predeceased by Barbara McIver (William) and a niece Carol Shura and nephew Michael McIver all of Massachusetts.

Mrs. Donohoe taught school in DeKalb County for 20 years. She also taught in Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia and Connecticut.

During the 1996 Summer Olympics she and two of her fellow members of the community garden club compiled a short history of the specific trees indigenous to each of the countries participating in the Olympics. A tree from each country was planted in local parks to honor the nation participants in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia.

Mrs. Donohoe was proud of her ancestral family and their active participation in the Episcopal Church.  She was fond of saying, “I am a cradle Episcopalian.” Her life participation in the Church included participation in St. Bede’s Episcopal Church since 1964. A faithful member of the Daughters of the King, she was also in charge of the food pantry of St. Bede’s for over ten years and participated in assisting thousands of people over the years.  Sharing in the latter years of her life by leading the “Golden Girls” celebrating their birthdays by lunching at various restaurants in Atlanta.

Mrs. Donohoe is survived by her husband Thomas Joseph of 68 years.  She is also survived by her four children, Robert (Lynne), Fr. Richard, Didi D. Heagerty, Doreen D. Heyburn (Thomas) and five grandchildren: Major Ryan Donohoe, USAF, Erin Donohoe, Spencer Telligman, Meghan Heyburn Hayes (Macklin) and Devan Heyburn.

The Funeral Service and Interment will be held at St. Bede’s Episcopal Church, 2601 Henderson Mill Road, Atlanta, Georgia, 30245 on Friday June 22nd at 1:00PM EDT.

Memorials may be given to St. Bede’s Episcopal Church.
