James Greene Paschal

James Greene Paschal, age 99 died December 27 2022. Mr. Paschal was born in Winston Salem N.C., the son of H.G. and Edna Cummings Paschal. He was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School, Culver Military Academy and University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity; and his Senior year President of the Student Council.

Following graduation he joined Sears Roebuck which was on the cusp of becoming the nation’s number one retailer. Several promotions later he was transferred to Nashville, TN. where he and his wife Betty Dixon Paschal, who preceded him in death in 2012, made a number of life long friends.

Seizing a great opportunity in 1953 he joined Reynolds Metal Co. (Reynolds Aluminum) in a sales capacity. He was employed by Reynolds for 37 years retiring in 1989 as the Regional Sales Manager for the Chemical Divis1on. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs and a former member of the Commerce Club.

In WWH he served on a Destroyer in the Navy in the Pacific aboard the USS Stanly DD 478, a member of Arleigh Burke’s famed “Little Beaver Squadron” DESRON 23. The Stanly survived multiple Kamikaze attacks including two direct hits and it was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.

He is survived by a daughter Beth Crowe (Mike) of Kennebunk, ME., And a son Zan Paschal (Trevor) of Roswell GA. He has eight grand children and six great grand children.

A memorial Service will be held January 11, 2023 at 3:00 pm at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 550 Mt. Paran Road, Atlanta GA, 30327. The family asks that memorials be sent to the church. The family will receive visitors preceding the service at 2:15 PM.
