Iris Crownover York

Iris Louise Crownover York, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011.

She was born Dec. 23, 1920 in Bridgeport, Ala. She was the last surviving sibling of six. She was the widow of G. Earl York. Graduate of Asheville High, Class of 1937 and Asheville Biltmore College.

She retired after 48 years at The Asheville Citizen-Times, Assistant to the Publisher.

Survived by her sons, David E. York of Atlanta, Ga., Michael A. York of Atlanta, Ga.; grandsons, Joseph E. York of Atlanta, Ga. and Wilson D. York of Atlanta, Ga.

Funeral services are Thursday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, Atlanta, Ga.
