George Ronald Rogan lived 81 joyous and beautiful years on earth before passing into Heaven on March 2, 2026.
George, the eldest of 11, was born to James and Ethel Rogan in Wilkes-Barre, PA on June 12, 1944. After joining the U.S. Armed forces early in life, George served in Georgia, where he later met his life-partner, Jay, and settled down in Atlanta.
A passionate and gentle soul, George retired from the education system where he committed his career to those with special needs. George’s spirit shone brightly, bursting beyond state lines as he maintained familial ties from as far northwest as British Colombia to as far southeast as Florida, most of his family being in Pennsylvania. George was every bit classy, comical, and committed to family.
He is survived by 9 of his 11 siblings, James Rogan, Sandra Williams, William Rogan, Ethel Judge, Patricia Ferguson, Michael Rogan, Irene Kulick, Mary Brennan, and John Rogan, his daughter Lisa Smith, his grandchildren Harley, Seth, Joshua, Isabelle, and Debra, and his soon-to-be-born first great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents James and Ethel Rogan, and his sister Debra Rogan Bettuccio.
The family thanks all who honored George with care and comfort during his fight against cancer.
His local celebration of life with be held at House of Belli on March 22, 2026 from 3-5 PM. There will be a Mass offered for him at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Croydon, PA on June 19, 2026 at 10:30 AM. His ashes will rest with his sister Debbie, his mother Ethel, and his father James at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, PA immediately following the Mass.
