George Mcwhorter Nash

George M. Nash, age 87 of Stone Mountain, GA., passed away on November 2, 2016. The funeral service will be held on November 13, 2016 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 1722 Oak Grove Road, Decatur GA. A visitation will be held at 2:30pm, followed by the service at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, make a donation to the Oak Grove UMC Missions to help the less fortunate. He graduated from Campbell High school in Fairburn GA, then after graduating from UGA, George served in the Army, worked for Eastern Airlines and retired from Sears.

He will be remembered for his kind, friendly and loving nature, not to mention his wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed many years of traveling and Square Dancing. After retiring from Sears, George spent 20+ years doing mission work with the church. He became a Master Gardener and was involved with the County Extension Office. He was known for his yard full of Hydrangeas and enjoyed the annual “Hydrangea Festival” they hosted every June.

He is survived by his loving wife Jeannine B. Nash of 67years; children Nancy A. Nash, Ken B. Nash Terri K., Pamela J. Nash; grandchildren Amanda Blair Compton, Andrew Justin Longo, Alexandria Peyton Nash, Jordan Marie Longo, Kenneth Malone Nash; great grandchildren Mason Reid Gound, Amelia Elizabeth Longo.
