Dr. Greene Edwin Ashurst, III

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Greene “Edwin” Ashurst, III, who passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 63, following a brief battle with Multiple Myeloma.

Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, Edwin graduated from Catawba College and continued his education to earn a PhD in theatre history from the University of Georgia. He made his home in Suwanee, Georgia, where he built a life grounded in friendship, compassion, and service. He will be remembered for his quick wit, kind heart, and generous spirit.

Edwin was a lifelong lover of the arts who enjoyed reading, collecting folk art, and his true love, performing on a stage. As a realtor, he took great pride in helping individuals and families find places to call home. Edwin was also devoted to animal welfare through his work with United Yorkie Rescue, helping countless dogs find loving homes. A practicing Buddhist, Edwin embraced compassion, mindfulness, and kindness, and cherished the communities he found through theatre, rescue work, and his spiritual practice.

Edwin deeply loved his parents, Greene Edwin Ashurst, Jr. and Sherry Ashurst, and his sisters, Robin Hale and Amy Boyd, and their families, all of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Edwin is survived by his husband, David C. Paske; his mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his uncles, Stan and Dwight.

Edwin’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched through his friendships, family, theatre, animal rescue work, Buddhist community, and unwavering kindness.

In Edwin’s memory, memorial donations may be made to United Yorkie Rescue, the Atlanta Shambhala Center, or a charity of your choice.
