Donald George Philippi

On Wednesday, September 1, 2010, after a long hard battle, Don Philippi lost the war surrounded by loved ones. Donald, 76, of Calhoun, GA was born on April 5, 1934 in Chicago, IL, son of the late Edward and Emily nee Enger Philippi.

Don was an avid collector of bald eagles. Bald eagles lost their biggest fan in the world. He was the greatest patriot ever known, and bigger than life itself, an amazing man.

“I am as free as a bird now, and this bird you cannot change. Flying clear across the sky as an eagle, watch these wings glide like your smile. You will always be the reason for my smile; you are the strongest eagle flying high.”

Survivors include his wife Joyce Hook Philippi, two sisters, Joyce Ronald Cina, and Elaine Edward Seeger; children, Diane Bruce, Michael Philippi, Denise Philippi, Kathy Stinson, and David Denise Philippi; and grandchildren, Curtis, Jeremy, Sarah, Justin, Tanya, Ashley, Jordan, Allen, Brianna, Lamon, Megan, and Marisa.

Memorial services for Mr. Don Philippi were held Tuesday, September 7th at 2:00pm from Trinity Baptist Church, 1170 Rome Road, SW, Calhoun, GA.

Graveside services will be held on September 17th at 2:00pm from the Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois 60181.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, Calhoun, GA 30701.
