Deborah Lou Badoud

March 5, 1948 — February 9, 2023

Mrs. Badoud was a creative soul who loved arts, crafts, cooking, and gardening. Her kind heart shone through her volunteer work and charitable support of many non-profit organizations. She grew up in the Washington D.C. area and began her family in Virginia, New Jersey and Illinois, but put roots down for over 30 years in Huntsville, AL. It was here that she cheered her boys’ sports, began a career, became a grandmother, and retired. Debbie was fun loving but worked hard to ensure the best possible lives for her three sons, always reminding them to avoid waste. Reduce, recycle, and reuse was a way of life. She was a collector of many things and often reminded everyone “that might be worth something someday”. In retirement she found joy spending time with her grandchildren and volunteering at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years William Alan Badoud (2017). She is survived by her brother Donald Pettit; son and his spouse, James & Stefanie Badoud; son Jason Badoud; son and his spouse, Jeffrey & Sally Badoud; grandchildren Ronin, Maeve, Pepper, & Lincoln.

Deborah will be interred with her husband William at Arlington National Cemetery. A formal service has not been scheduled. People wishing to express sympathies may donate to their local botanical garden or to The Hambidge Center (www.hambidge.org) where a garden will be established in her name.
