Clarence Glenn Whittaker is survived by daughter, Glenna Roy Pace, Saluda, VA; son, Danny Dianne Whittaker, Marietta, GA; Grandsons, David Raven Whittaker, Hiram, GA and Jeff Roni Whittaker, Winchester, KY; Great Grandchildren, Caitlin Whittaker, Parker Whittaker, McKenzie Whittaker and Madison Whittaker; one niece, Karen; former wife, Katherine Jean Elkins Pitts; Mike Kim Anders; Monica Ellison.
Clarence Glenn Whittaker son of Jeanette Wells and Harrison Daniel Moore was known as Glenn Moore in younger years. He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Nancy Jane Collier Wells, and brother, Vilas Moore. He was born in Esserville, VA in 1927, attended school in Letcher County, KY, joined the US Navy and served during WW II. He raised his children as a divorced father in Richmond, VA with help from his mother and her husband, Jesse Hazelwood, now deceased. Mr. Whittaker married again, Jean C. Whittaker, now deceased and moved to Smyrna then Woodstock, GA, divorced again, he moved to his home in Dallas, GA. He formerly worked at Dutton & Hall machine shop and owned and operated Whittaker Tool and Die Company in Woodstock and Dallas, GA and was retired. When younger he enjoyed keeping a garden, later just sitting on the deck being outside at the home he was proud to own in Dallas, GA. He took great pride in collecting and reading classic books and many books of philosophy and non-fiction. His collection of music included many by Elvis. His favorite holiday was Groundhog Day and celebrated by entertaining family and friends. The last several weeks he resided in his son’s home surrounded by family pictures and he loved to brag about how beautiful his family was. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
