Cheryl Black Luke

August 15, 1955 — August 7, 2018

Cheryl Black Luke died on August 7, 2018 just 8 days from her 63rd birthday. She was surrounded by family at their home in Jasper, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Black and her brother Terry Black.  She is survived by her mother Marilyn Weaver of Greenville, PA, husband, Steve Luke of Jasper,  Ryan Henderson son( wife Robin)  of Jasper, GA and Shanna Henderson daughter( husband,Bob King) of St. Johns FL, 2 stepsons, Chris Luke (Heather) and Michael Luke (Elizabeth) all of Decatur, GA.  She had six(6) grandchildren, Bobby and Katlin King of St. Johns, FL., Lilly and Elena Luke of Decatur, GA., and Chad Harms of Atlanta and Lauren English of Cumming, GA. She is also survived by three sisters,  Joyce Black Woerz, Connie Rollins and Karen Black and one brother Jeff Black.  She has two sister-in-laws, Cindy Valentine and Crystal Luke.

Cheryl was a Christian and member of Broadway United Methodist Church in Paducah, KY and had worked for Calvin DuBose, State Farm Agency in Alpharetta, GA and Woodstock, GA.  She also followed her husband’s career and had worked as a Flight Attendant for Midway Airlines, Duke University Eye Center and Habitat for Humanity in Raleigh, NC and St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, PA. One notable item is that Cheryl was the first female elected to lead her High School Student Council in Sandy Lake, PA. Cheryl was also a graduate of Brenau Business School in Atlanta, GA and  avid supporter of Georgia Tech athletics.

The family will have a celebration gathering and short service at their home in Jasper, GA on Saturday, August 11th from 2:00pm till 4:00pm. Then on August 18th from 2:00pm till 4:00pm the family will have calling hours at Black’s Funeral Home in Stoneboro, PA. Her ashes will be buried in Oak Grove Cemetery near Fredonia, PA. next to her family members.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested you make donations in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or to Georgia Mountain Hospice Inc. (gamountainshospice.org).
