Carolyn Chappell Dupree

Carolyn Chappell Dupree passed away on September 15, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the daughter of Ewin Summers Chappell, Jr. and Marguerite Waggoner Chappell, who preceded her in death along with her brother Robert Chappell. Carolyn is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, James Edward (Rick) Dupree of Smyrna, Georgia. Other survivors include her brothers and their wives: James and Kathy Chappell of Roswell, Georgia; Charles and Carol Chappell of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Edward and Margaret Chappell of Atlanta, Georgia. Also cherishing her memory are her nieces and nephews spanning two generations, all of whom adored their irrepressible Aunt Kay and took great delight in joining her in episodes of boisterous laughter at family gatherings.

Carolyn grew up in Little Rock and in Memphis, Tennessee, graduating from Rhodes College in Memphis in 1970. She spent her career in the reservations department of Delta Airlines. Despite Carolyn’s years of struggles with her health, she maintained a consistently positive attitude. Her family members and many friends will remember her for her for her loyalty and her abiding sense of humor that always made people comfortable and happy in her presence.

Interment will take place at 11 a.m. on October 26, 2019, at Forest Hills Cemetery in Little Rock.
