Betty Busbee was Atlanta through and through — born, raised, and proudly rooted in the city she loved. She passed away on October 19, 2025, surrounded by the warmth of family and friends who adored her.
Betty shared a long and happy life with her husband, Max Busbee, and was a devoted mother to Kathy (and her husband, the late Bobby Pierce), and to Scott. She was also the proud grandmother of John Pierce, who brought her endless smiles.
Throughout her life, Betty kept busy doing what she loved — connecting with people. She worked for many years at C&S Bank and later as a secretary at North Decatur Presbyterian Church, where she became a familiar, friendly face. She was active in her community as a Decatur Ambassador, traveling, laughing, and making friends wherever she went.
A lifelong tennis player, Betty found joy (and plenty of stories) on the court. She also loved the arts, volunteering as an usher at various theaters and rarely missing a good play. Her creative side shined through her Knit Wit group at church, where she crocheted with care and conversation.
Betty’s laughter and smile were contagious, her kindness effortless, and her favorite saying summed her up perfectly:
“You only live once.”
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held on January 17, 2026 at 2pm, at OnStage Atlanta. Please join her friends and family as we gather to remember her warmth, her humor, and her stories!
