Barbara Ann Benton

Barbara Ann Benton, 53, beloved daughter of the late Nelson and Betty Chiarello Benton, died after suffering a stroke at her home in Alpharetta, Ga. on July 7, 2015.
Ms. Benton was born July 23, 1961 in Cebu City, the Philippines, where her father was employed by the Singer Sewing Machine Co. After moving back to the United States with her family, she lived in Danvers, MA; then in Shapleigh and Sanford, ME for many years, graduating from Sanford High School. She attended the University of Maine in Orono before joining the U.S. Navy from which she received an honorable discharge in 1986.
Following her Navy career, she entered the shipping industry and was most recently employed as assistant export documentation manager for United Arab Shipping Co. in the Atlanta area.
She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Nelson and Laurie Benton of Peoria, AZ; Richard Benton of East Millinocket, ME ; and Mark and Kathi Benton of Cumberland, ME; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She will be laid to rest with her parents in a private service at Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY on Sept. 17.
