Audrey Elizabeth Warnick

November 12, 1938 — July 3, 2023

A devoted wife, mother, and friend. A spiritual and geographic nomad, curator of beauty, and life of the party.

Audrey Elizabeth Warnick (née Hession), passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2023, in Canton, Georgia, after a full and active life. Born on November 12, 1938, in Derby, Connecticut to Edward and Doris Hession, Audrey was the eldest of her siblings, Doris “Dottie” Hession, and Edward Charles Hession Jr. During childhood, her family moved from Connecticut, to Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and California. She attended Pasadena City College, and was active in the journalism club, and relished capturing stories and photos of people, places, and events.

After marriage, she and her husband Joseph moved to Marietta, Georgia, where they raised their three children. She was an active volunteer – she ran the Church bookshop, was the wardrobe mistress of the local ballet company, she worked with a women’s shelter, and taught English as a second language. She was fascinated by and explored spiritual philosophies and pathways. Audrey was an enthusiastic Bridge and Mahjong player in her community. She was an avid genealogical researcher and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. After launching her children to adulthood, she pursued her passion for travel with her husband, friends, and family. She was always up for adventure, whether riding elephants in Thailand, playing penny slot machines at local casinos with her ‘posse’ of friends, or digging for diamonds in Missouri.

Audrey married Joseph Robert Warnick in November 1960, and dedicated herself to her marriage until his death in March 2013. During their 53 years of marriage, she cultivated a warm and supportive family life. She created happy and hilarious memories for many with her Christmas “white elephant” parties. It was her way of making every holiday special. She enjoyed creating a beautiful home and happy memories. Her greatest gift to her children was cultivating their sense of independence and adventure. She loved becoming a grandmother and watching her grandchildren develop.

Audrey is survived by her sister Dottie Kiser, her three loving children and spouses: Elizabeth (and Gavin) Macgregor- Skinner, Joseph (and Paula) Warnick, and Andrew (and Christine) Warnick; her grandchildren: Joshua, Seth, Olivia (and Joshua), Andrei, Ryan, Katya, Jamie and Audrey, and great-grandchild, Dimitri; sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She embraced many friends as family throughout her life.

A celebration of life will be held on August 5, 2023, from 5-7pm, at The Fairways of Canton, 400 Laurel Canyon Parkway, Canton, GA 30114. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to MUST Ministries.

Our family celebrates Audrey’s beautiful and full life, and we share our gratitude with all who have journeyed with her and supported her throughout her life.
