Anthony Mitchel Pinto

September 28, 1940 — March 5, 2023

Anthony “Tony” Mitchel Pinto passed from this world into the next on March 5th 2023, after a courageous and extensive battle against esophageal cancer. In his typical feisty fashion, he overcame a prognosis in January 2020 of only weeks to live, surviving more than three additional years.

Tony was born on September 28, 1940 to Clara Pinto née Grimaldi and Natalie Pinto. He was the oldest of three. His sister Frances arrived shortly thereafter and seven years later, his brother Lawrence arrived. Anthony adored his siblings. He grew up with and regarded his cousins Fred Grimaldi Jr. and Ray Grimaldi more as brothers than cousins.

He was reared in Utica NY in what he described as a close knit community. He graduated from Utica Proctor High and attended Utica College, after which he enlisted in the US Air Force. After his time of service, he went to work for Western Union, where he skyrocketed his career to be the youngest area manager (equivalent to a Vice President ) in Western Union history. He later worked at Savin Corp and Sun Electric, achieving record sales and subsequent awards.

After his time in the Air Force, he married Kathleen Halford née Grossi and they were married for 12 years. They lived in upstate New York, Cherry Hill New Jersey and Dallas Texas, and produced three beautiful children, a daughter Michelle Lynn, a daughter Melissa Laurel and his name sake, Anthony Jr.

He later married Petra Hartmann to whom he was married 39 years. They resided in Dallas Texas, St. Louis Missouri, Crystal Lake Illinois and Salt Lake City Utah. Together they had three more beautiful children, a son Alexander Michael, a daughter Marlies Liza and a son Adam Marcus. Anthony loved all his children fiercely!

Anthony was an excellent cook. He loved to teach friends and family his old family recipes of homemade sausage, tomato sauces and his most famous meatballs. He was never happier than when feeding those he loved!

Most recently he met and married the love of his life, Maria Pinto née Puddle, who loved and cared deeply for him and ushered him from this mortal world. He greatly enjoyed his life with Maria and many dear friends in Roswell, Georgia.

He leaves behind his wife Maria Pinto, children Anthony Mitchel Pinto Jr., Melissa Laurel Hoover (Mart), Alexander Michael Pinto ( Amy Beth), Marlies Liza Pinto, Adam Marcus Pinto (Hyrum Schenk), stepchildren Benjamin James Puddle and Victoria Issabella Puddle, his beloved grandchildren Mitchel Anthony Smith, Sydney Michelle Smith, Isabelle Rose Smith, London Lifschultz, Anthony Pinto lll, Mallie Jay Pinto, and Adrienne Rose Pinto. He also leaves his niece Lauren Pinto and nephew Alfonso John Pinto (Ashley) along with several great nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins.

He is predeceased by his parents Natalie and Clara Pinto, Uncle Joseph Pinto, Aunt Rita and Uncle Fred Grimaldi, Aunt Delores and Uncle Victor Grimaldi, Cousin Fred Grimaldi Jr., Brother Lawrence Pinto and his beloved Daughter Michelle Lynn Pinto, who most certainly was the first to greet him in heaven with wide open arms.

The celebration of Anthony Pinto’s life will be held on the Peachtree Church campus on Monday March 13, 2023 at 2pm at Kellet Chapel (the smaller free standing chapel just north of the large sanctuary), located at 3434 Roswell Road NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30305 tel: 404-842-5800. All are welcome to this celebration of a life well lived by a man well loved!
