On July 27, 2018, Anne Lazard McClurkin, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, returned to His loving arms. Anne was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1938, the daughter of B.A. “Bob” and Mary Lazard. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1956 and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1960. She joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority during her college years.
Anne married Lee McClurkin in Savannah, Georgia in 1961 and moved to New York where she and her husband lived in Hastings-on-Hudson. Two of Anne’s children, Lee McClurkin III and Mary Anne Wolfe, were born while living in New York.
In 1967, the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Her third child, Elizabeth Reynolds Moreland was born in Atlanta in 1971.
Anne was active in numerous clubs and civic associations during her life including The Junior Committee, The Young Matrons Society, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Pine Forest Garden Club of which she served twice as President. Anne learned to be a reading tutor as a member of the Literacy Volunteers of Atlanta.
Anne was a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church for many years where she served as an Usher and as an usher recruiter, joined the “Sanctuary Saints” and served as the head of that organization, and was an active Stephen Minister for several years. She was an active member of the Covenant Class.
Anne was an accomplished chef, and an avid Bridge player earning the ranking of Bronze Life Master from the American Contract Bridge League.
She is survived by her Husband, Lee, her son, Lee III and her daughter-in-law, Catherine, their son, Leonidas, and daughter, Patricia, by her daughter Elizabeth and her husband, Ronnie, and their sons, Nathanial and Zachary, and by her son-in law, Russell Wolfe, his wife, Jennifer and their children Hayley and Christopher Wolfe and Samantha Holley.
Services will be held at Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Rd, Atlanta, GA 30305, in the Kellett Chapel on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Anne has requested that memorials be sent to Peachtree Presbyterian Church.
