Allan Houston Goldsmith

Allan Houston Goldsmith, 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Columbus, Georgia, surrounded by the love of his family.

Allan was born on October 15, 1961, in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of Robert Sidney Goldsmith, Jr and Isabel Grayson Goldsmith Parish. He was a graduate of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, and the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

Allan met Rebecca Klein Goldsmith of Columbus, Georgia, during their freshman year at UGA. They were married in Fincastle, Virginia, on May 2, 1987. After building many fond memories in Roanoke, Allan and Becky moved to Columbus in 1998. Together they raised three children: Lara Allan Goldsmith Lasseter, Julianna Goldsmith Banks, and Gabriel Thomas Goldsmith. Allan was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus.

As manager of the family’s UPS franchise, Allan enjoyed building his business, working alongside his employees, and sharing in the camaraderie of Fort Benning’s soldiers. Throughout his life, Allan carried a quiet strength, gentle spirit, and deep love for those closest to him. He enjoyed listening to music, recalling stories, and spending time with his growing family.

Allan and Becky were blessed with five grandchildren: Isabel Randall Lasseter, Smith Greer Lasseter, David Brooks Banks, Houston Lee Banks, and Riggins Thomas Goldsmith, all of Columbus.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sidney Goldsmith, Jr and Isabel Grayson Parish; his brothers, Thomas Courtland Goldsmith and William Douglas Goldsmith; and his stepfather, Havner Hurd Parish, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca Klein Goldsmith; his children, Lara Allan Lasseter (John Randall), Julianna Banks (Carson), and Gabriel Goldsmith (Bailey); his cherished grandchildren; his brothers Robert Sidney Goldsmith, III and Richard Grayson Goldsmith; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassion International, a charity committed to advocating for children through the love of Jesus Christ, and/or The Roll Call Fund, Episcopal High School’s annual fund.

Finding peace in the presence of everyday life was a gift of grace that Allan shared with all who knew him. Even in life’s greatest challenges, Allan never wavered. He taught those around him how to accept life’s circumstances with dignity, strength, and utmost grace.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 2-4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus. A service will also be held in Roanoke, Virginia, at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.
